Yorkshire news Wilder chooses different strategy with Ampadu to Henderson after error MetiNews.Com
MetiNews.Com - Blades' boss Chris Wilder refused to go in too hard on the Chelsea loanee following his costly mistake in last weekend's Premier League defeat to Fulham
Breaking News ! You could forgive Ethan Ampadu for not being in a rush to re-watch Sheffield United's defeat to Fulham. Not only was it a 20th defeat in 25 league outings for the Blades. The contest against Scott Parker's side was ultimately settled due to an error on Ampadu's part. Ademola Lookman's goal for Fulham came courtesy of not one, but two misjudgements from the on-loan Chelsea man. First, Ampadu didn't judge the flight of Joachim Andersen's long ball upfield towards Lookman. Then, playing catch-up, he got his legs tangled which allowed the Fulham attacker to get the better of his former Leipzig teammate and rifle the ball past Aaron Ramsdale in the United goal. Blades' boss Chris Wilder said after the match: "The young man will learn from his mistake, there's no hiding place. Ethan Ampadu has, in the main, impressed since arriving at United on loan from Chelsea. "He understands that, he's a fabulous young player and I suppose we take young players for them to make the mistake for us and they go back to the parent club and learn from the experience which there are some big experiences the players are going through at the moment. "Not just the young players but us all because it's such a difficult period for us." He has become a fixed part of Wilder's side, and is likely to be needed even more following the decimation of the club's defensive options due to injuries.

But ahead of the meeting with champions Liverpool at Bramall Lane on Sunday, Wilder might be forgiven for casting his mind back to another costly error from a loanee. It was in a home game against the Reds last season where Dean Henderson, who excelled whilst on secondment from Manchester United, made a rare but ultimately costly gaffe. Henderson spilled a routine effort from Gini Wijnaldum and saw the ball trickle over the line - enough to hand the visitors a slender, perhaps undeserved 1-0 win. Again, it was fine margins but this season it is the kind of margin that have more often than not been going against United.

Wilder will be hoping Ampadu heeds the lessons of Henderson. After that blunder against Jurgen Klopp's men, the goalkeeper posted a series of inspired displays to help the Blades seal a superb top-half finish. Whilst Ampadu would have to go some distance to aid the club in what would be the greatest survival mission in the competition's history, he will at least be aiming to ensure his Fulham faux pas is merely a sidenote on his South Yorkshire stay, rather than an indelible mark.
