Breaking News ! As someone with a sweet tooth I've been eyeing cafe Meow for a while now. Since it opened in York in January, people have been eager to try its famous bubble waffles and bao buns. Owner Phoebe Lai was known for running mobile food trailer Little Bubble Box before opening a permanent shop in Goodramgate. Bubble waffles are a popular Hong Kong street food and usually served warm, with fresh fruit and ice cream but can also be eaten plain. At Meow Ms Lai offers a variety of toppings to choose from such as Ferrero Rocher and brownies - which are the ones I went for. To get the latest email updates from North Yorkshire Live, click here . I probably went for the most extravagant options and paid £7.30 but there are cheaper versions depending on what toppings you choose. I decided to add vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.

. It literally melted in my mouth and was not overly sweet which was good given the extremely sugary toppings I chose. While they are often described as a "snack", I would definitely recommend not eating a meal right before having one as the portion is very generous. The cafe is open Monday – Sunday from 11.30am to 8:00pm (except Wednesday 11.30am-6.30pm). Ms Lai is also opening a sister site in the Shambles in the coming weeks which will focus on bao buns.
