MetiNews.Com - Call for senior players to step up and galvanise battle to avoid relegation
Breaking News ! Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley has called on his senior players to show leadership in the relegation crisis. Town are in the relegation zone with seven matches to play and will watch a number of rivals in action tonight before heading to Birmingham City themselves tomorrow. Cowley has had Town back on the PPG Canalside training ground since Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest, which leaves his side behind Hull City on goal difference. The boss is now looking for a response to three successive defeats when Town do battle at St Andrew's, having been denied the chance to include a trio of loaned-out players and hoping striker Steve Mounie is fit to lead the line for the first time since lockdown. "We have to keep learning from the games and look at ourselves, not out of the window," said Cowley. "The senior players have to really step up and help the younger players.
. We need people to really lead now. "It's easy to lead when things are going well - you learn much more about yourself when your back is against the wall and you are facing adversity. "You learn much more about yourself as human beings in those moments. "I am determined to enjoy this challenge, because while it's a painful experience at the moment I'm going to keep on learning, keep working with the group and keep trying to find a way to achieve what we need to achieve. "I know the group are capable, but we do need to show a bit more strength, mentally and physically - that is fair."
