Breaking News ! The government's new tiered system is now operating, with various towns and cities being governed by different rules. The vast majority of Yorkshire - all of West and South - is currently in Tier 2, meaning pubs can stay open but household mixing is banned. The whole of North Yorkshire - with the exception of York which is also in Tier 2 - is in Tier 1. This means the rule of six still applies but you can mix with people you do not live with. This is the same for Hull and East Riding. And, with the very real threat of West and South Yorkshire being moved up into Tier 3 next week as crunch talks with local leaders continue, what changes will that mean for travel and holiday arrangements. Can you go on holiday if you live in Tier 3? Although there is nowhere in Yorkshire currently under the tightest lockdown restrictions, it is still a possibility. If this does happen, it will mean that people are allowed to go on holiday but only if they stay in that area. It stands to reason then, that a holiday does not fit into the essential travel only category.

However, if you were to go on holiday, this must only be with the people you live with and you must still stick to the rule of six. What about Tier 1? Like Tier 2, there are no travel restrictions imposed. You can also mix with people who do not live in your area. However, the rule of six must be followed and pubs will still have a 10pm closing time. It is advised anyone living in Tier 2 and 1 should not travel into Tier 3 areas unless it is absolutely unavoidable.
