Breaking News ! An interactive map shows which areas in North Yorkshire have been least affected by Covid-19. The colour-coded tool uses the seven–day rolling rate of new cases recorded up until October 20 which are expressed per 100,000 people. Areas marked in different shades of green generally mean a low infection rate while areas in dark blue and purple have recorded a higher number. A number of Scarborough postcodes have recorded significantly low infection rates and the local authority has overall recorded a decrease according to the latest data from October 23. Scarborough's infection rate currently stands at 101.1 cases per 100,000 people - in comparison, York's stands at 302.6. The lowest infection rate was recorded in Scarborough Town and North Bay where only three new cases were recorded in the week to October 20. Harrogate's overall infection rate is currently 164.8 according to data from the seven days up to October 19. This is a slight increase from 161.0 from the week before. As the autumn holidays begin for schools in North Yorkshire, public health officials are asking people to make sure they remember to stick to Covid-19 safety rules in order to contain the spread of the virus. North Yorkshire’s director of public health, Dr Lincoln Sargeant, said: “It’s important that people look after their mental health and wellbeing by taking part in social events, or marking occasions such as Hallowe’en.
