Breaking News ! A Lincolnshire woman has been fined after driving more than 100 miles to Scarborough for a McDonald's meal with her sister. Officers caught her after she had travelled through three counties to get a burger, which is not classed as an "essential journey". The woman, in her 30s, was issued with a fixed penalty notice from North Yorkshire Police. Chief Inspector Rachel Wood of North Yorkshire Police said: “Driving through three counties to get a burger is not classed as essential travel. So the woman, who is in her 30s, received a fixed penalty from North Yorkshire Police. “Most people in North Yorkshire are trying really hard to stop the spread of Covid in our communities and protect the vulnerable. “When this pandemic is over, we know everyone’s looking forward to going where they want, when they want.
.” Over the past few weeks, North Yorkshire Police have issued a number of warnings to people tempted to sidestep current government guidelines. With snow forecast for York and North Yorkshire, sledgers seeking out snowy beauty spots have been told to stay away.
