Breaking News ! Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley says he was left feeling ‘inspired’ and ‘appreciative’ by his players’ response to suffering their third successive defeat against Nottingham Forest on Sunday and consequently dropping into the relegation zone. The Terriers boss revealed that several senior players had addressed the whole squad during a team meeting on Monday, sharing their prior experiences of relegation battles and how Town can avoid the drop into League One. Cowley said: “Sometimes it’s good to look in the whites of people’s eyes and to speak the truth to one another. “The players spoke and sometimes I’ll talk a lot, and I realise that. Sometimes it’s nice to listen to others and listen to the players and see what they feel and how they feel and use their experiences because we have a wealth of experience in the dressing room. “I was actually really inspired by them speaking: Tommy Elphick spoke, Andy King spoke, Richard Stearman spoke, Chris Schindler spoke, Jonas [Lossl] spoke. Between them all it was a good meeting. “For us it’s our routine to always analyse the game and watch the game back and learn from the game technically and tactically, but this was a talk just between men and it was a positive one.

.” Asked if the weight of the club’s recent history was being felt by the players, Cowley said: “I don’t want to make excuses. “It’s been a really difficult period for the club over the last two and a half seasons. “There’s not been enough good days for Huddersfield Town supporters and I really feel for them most in all of this because it is their club. That’s what we’ve tried to do. “Unfortunately in sport success doesn’t always happen in a straight line and we’re in a difficult moment. It wasn’t a great time for me to have three [successive league] losses for the first time in my career, I would have chosen to have it at another time for sure. “But this is what it is and we have to respond. That’s the great thing about sport: you can be written off, you can be criticised, but you always have a chance to respond. At the moment I can only talk but I know it’s much more powerful to do that talking in actions and that’s what we intend to do at Birmingham.”
