Breaking News ! Sheffield United's end-of-season awards saw Chris Basham take home the top trophies after a season to remember in the Premier League. Bash was United's most consistent performer during a fabulous campaign that saw the club finish ninth. The 32-year-old was part of a defensive unit that could only be bettered by Liverpool, Man City and Man United. In his sixth season at the club, 'Bash' is United's current longest-serving player having amassed 269 appearances and he picked up both the Players' Player of the Year Award and the Supporters' Player of the Year. It was a well deserved achievement for a fans' favourite who epitomises everything this football club stands for. A unanimous decision, his team-mates paid tribute to a player described by captain Billy Sharp as 'one of the first names on the teamsheet.' Here is what the man of the moment had to say about his awards and what his team-mates think of him. Chris Basham On his Supporters Award: "It's amazing. The supporters have always been on my side through thick and thin. "I have improved and improved with this manager. Credit to him for sticking with me and the fans have done the same and I am reaping the rewards now. I am privileged to be player of the year for Sheffield United. "It feels great, feels amazing. "Commitment, hard work and passion if you can do those three things you have a good chance at Sheffield United. "The manager is exactly the same. That's what he looks at in a player first and foremost - has he got the commitment? Has he got the passion? Has he got the will to wear the badge that I wear now? "I have loved being here for the past six years and long may it continue because I still love being here. "I don't know when I'll pinch myself to realise what I am doing. The hard work continues. The gaffer wants more from us. Next season he wants more again. With a great set of lads and great staff I am sure we can do that." On his Players' Player of the Year, he said: "It's not sunk in right now. "We are a close-knit group, a great set of lads and for them to vote for me I feel very privileged. "The good thing is I know the position. It's not like I am being chucked in there. I am myself, I know how to play there. I have four lads next to me that have helped me along the way. George (Baldock) has been outstanding, he's helped me too. It's a great position to play and I love playing there." Billy Sharp "He's proved that he has been the best for us this season individually but just as he is off the pitch he has given his all. He's provided a lot of memories this season and has been the most consistent for me and for all the other lads who have voted for him. "Congratulations, he has been tremendous and deserves it. "He's a firm favourite of the gaffer, he's one of the first names on the teamsheet and he plays his position amazingly.

. He's taken it by storm. He takes everything in his stride. I am really delighted that he has won that award this season. "He's a northern boy as well, so I am buzzing for him that the two northern lads are cleaning up. We'll take that all day long. Even in the dressing room if you were to ask everybody who their favourite player is they would say Chris Basham. He's really funny. "He's just a really good lad. I think he's shown this year, just how good a player he really is. He's stepped up and has been magnificent all season. I am really happy for him." Phil Jagielka "A great guy. He's been here long enough and the fans love him and there's a reason behind that. He gives his all every single game. "He's pretty much been picked for every game possible. Up there with the most interceptions, leads by example and he knows what it means to play for this club. "It's fantastic that he has been part of a very successful back five this season and I am delighted for him. "He's got the accolade and the award that he's got purely down to his footballing ability and how well he's performed this season. Enda Stevens "Well deserved. Bash is a leader by example.
