Breaking News ! The PGMOL have clarified why the VAR advised referee Kevin Friend to rescind Robbie Brady's yellow card and book Luke Shaw during the first half of Burnley vs Manchester United. Paul Pogba's second-half volley proved decisive as United moved to the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 victory, giving them a three-point cushion over Liverpool ahead of Sunday's clash at Anfield. In a game littered with talking points, fans of both clubs were left confused by a bizarre moment in the first half. Robbie Brady was initially booked by Friend for a late challenge on Edinson Cavani, which the referee then reviewed at the VAR monitor to decide whether the Burnley winger had denied a clear goal-scoring opportunity and should be sent off. As a result, Friend rescinded Brady's yellow for his challenge on Cavani and instead booked Shaw for a challenge at the other end of the field.

. In an attempt to clarify the incident, the PGMOL released a statement, which said: “In the 27th minute of Burnley vs Manchester United, Robbie Brady was shown a yellow card for a foul on Edinson Cavani. “On the recommendation of the VAR, referee Kevin Friend went to the Referee Review Area (RRA) to check for a possible red card for Brady for a denial of a goalscoring opportunity offence and a possible foul by Luke Shaw that was in the same attacking phase of play.
