Breaking News ! A fundraiser set up for a mum who was found dead in Prestwich has already raised more than £6,000. Police were called to reports of the 'sudden death of a woman' at an address in Sherbourne Court on Sunday (February 21). The body of Kimberley McAssey was found inside the building. Sadly, the 29-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. A fundraiser set up to support Ms McAssey’s family through this difficult time was set up yesterday. In less than 24 hours, it has so far raised £6,351. The fundraiser, created by Nicole Harrington yesterday, reads: “Due to the devastating news about our beautiful Kimberley we are trying to do everything we can to support her family during this heartbreaking time. “Any donations towards would be greatly appreciated. All donations for Kimberley McAssey the most beautiful and amazing mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, sister-in-law and friend will be transferred by myself to my mother and father-in-law as a support during such a devastating time. “I can only imagine the shock and how overwhelmed they will be with the response we have received so far. “As we are all aware Kim was the light in any room, the soul of a party, the joy in laughter and for that I truly believe she will be with everyone she has touched forever and a day. We never imagined the campaign would be as successful as it has been which is just a small token of the love people have for Kimberley. “As we are all aware with the current circumstances, we are unable to give Kimberley the send-off we truly would have wanted. “However, we will update as soon as possible with information regarding Kimberley’s funeral. If all of Kimberley’s family and friends could send me an email with a special memory of Kimberley or a funny time they had with Kimberley and a possible picture to ensure these are all present on the day as a support and comfort to Kimberley’s beautiful family on such a difficult day. Thank you so much.” (Image: Manchester Evening News) On Monday, Ms McAssey’s family shared their heartbreak in a moving statement.
