UK The shirt numbers Ferran Torres could wear at Man City last minute news
MetiNews.Com - Manchester City are close to signing Valencia winger Ferran Torres to replace Leroy Sane at the Etihad.
Breaking News ! Manchester City are close to completing the signing of Ferran Torres, as their summer business gets underway. City are believed to be nearing an agreement with Valencia that would see Torres, 20, switch clubs for an initial £21m (€23m). The deal will have the potential for considerable add-on payments that could lift the final figure up by another £10.5m (€12m). Torres, a Spain under-21 international, scored six goals with eight assists in 44 appearances in all competitions this season, playing mostly from the right wing. He is an exciting young winger, who has attracted interest from plenty of Europe's top clubs. If he arrives, he will replace the gap in the squad left by Leroy Sane, who joined Bayern Munich at the start of the month. City earned €49million up front from selling Sane, with a further €11million potentially arriving in add-ons. So which other shirt numbers are available to the winger? No.15 There are three numbers between 1-11 vacant, but winger Torres is unlikely to take 3, 4, or 6. The next free number - assuming Angelino keeps 12 and returns to the club - is the no.15. The last player to wear this number was Eliaquim Mangala, although Jesus Navas wore 15 between 2013 and 2017. Torres is a pacey, Spanish right-winger like Navas, and he wore 15 in his first season for Valencia's youth side, so could he take that number for City? No.18 This number has been more associated with central midfielders in recent years, with Fabian Delph, Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry all wearing 18.
. No.19 If Torres really is Sane's replacement, then maybe he should take the shirt number too. Sane joined City after a promising spell at Schalke, before kicking on and becoming one of the world's best. There are similarities in the start of Torres and Sane's journeys, so perhaps the number would be an appropriate one.

No.21 With David Silva leaving City, whoever takes 21 will have huge boots to fill. It might be too much pressure to place on a young player, but Torres and Silva have the Valencia connection, and it would be a huge vote of confidence in the young winger by giving him the squad number of a legend. No.24, No.28, No,29 The last three vacant numbers below 30 do not have much significance for Torres, or in former City players to wear the number. Young defender Tosin Adarabioyo last wore 24 before heading out on loan, and there are reports he may be handed a new contract at City which would presumably see him retain that number. Daniel Stu

rridge once wore 28, while Shaun Wright-Phillips wore 29, so those numbers have some connection with young forwards. No.33 Currently, third goalkeeper Scott Carson wears 33, but his loan will expire at the end of the season. Torres wore 33 when he first broke into the Valencia first team, so there might be a sentimental reason for him to pick that number.
