Breaking News ! More experienced social workers are needed to join the council’s ranks to support children and their futures across the borough. Trafford Council has launched a recruitment drive to get more people on board for its children’s social care services. The authority said its services are committed to providing children and families with “high quality and purposeful relationships with professionals, to support them to reach their full potential”. (Image: Manchester Evening News) In Februrary, the MEN reported that Trafford was struggling to fill its care work vacancies and it’s now labelled a priority for the borough, according to the North West Job Centre. There are still a number of vacancies in Trafford‘s care system that authorities are working to fill. A spokesperson for the North West Job Centre said the care work sector is a “difficult one” to work in and they are trying to remove any barriers that are preventing people from working in care. Similarly, Trafford Housing Trust is also looking for care workers to support its living independence services; providing support such as personal care, dressing, cooking, medication management, cleaning and shopping. The recent drive from Trafford Council focuses on attracting and retaining the best social workers and offering a number of benefits for new recruits. Trafford’s children’s services were previously rated inadequate by the Care Quality Commission, but a follow up visit earlier this year stated improvements have been made. The council is offering to pay for new recruits’ Social Work registration, give training and personal development programmes and host an annual conference for social workers on learning, networking and developing practice. The employment campaign aims to attract experienced social workers “looking for a new challenge”. Coun Catherine Hynes, Trafford Council’s executive member for children’s social care, said: “This is an exciting time to join the children’s social care team in Trafford. Trafford really is a great place to work and offers a supportive, empowering and inspiring environment.
