MetiNews.Com - The playing surface at Ibrox is being dug up as the club installs a new pitch for the new season.
Breaking News ! Work has begun on Rangers' new pitch ahead of their title defence next season. Earlier in the week industry leaders SIS teased they'd be on their way to Ibrox to undertake a major upgrade. Of course, any work had to wait until the on-field action had concluded with the final match at the Govan ground before the summer. A 4-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday saw the champions see out the campaign in style and captain James Tavernier lifted the Scottish Premiership trophy after the match to mark the club's first top flight title in a decade. But renovations began the following morning in a move sure to be well received by manager Steven Gerrard as he hopes to further embed his slick style of play.
. Ibrox currently boasts a semi-hybrid surface, unlike the full-hybrid pitches at Celtic Park and Tynecastle. SIS' George Mullan Tweeted on Wednesday: "Full pitch construction completed at the Batumi Stadium in Georgia. Next up Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow."
