Breaking News ! A woman injured in a fatal car crash in Ayrshire has secured a six figure settlement. Gillian Kay said at some points she thought there was "no real recovery in sight" after she was hurt in a 140mph crash on the A77. The 44-year-old's friend, Joan Price, was killed at the hands of boy racers on the Ayrshire road more than four years ago. Gillian Kay said: “The last few years have been truly life-changing for me and my family – there were times when I thought there was no real recovery in sight.
. “I am grateful to everyone who has supported me during this time but as both the criminal and civil cases are over I would now like my privacy respected.” Damian White, partner at Digby Brown in Ayr, added: “Gillian sustained very serious injuries as a result of a completely avoidable road traffic accident that will affect her for the rest of her life.

“I have great respect for the strength and dignity she has maintained since the incident and I wish her all the best for the future.” In March this year, speed cameras were installed along the A77 where Joan was killed. The measure was implemented after Joan’s husband Colin launched the campaign ‘Joan’s Legacy’ alongside West FM to call for a gap in speed cameras along the road to be filled.
