Breaking News ! Snow could be falling sooner than we first thought, according to forecasters at the Met Office. The weather experts predict temperatures will plummet across the country - including in Cambridgeshire - over the next week. While it's more likely that northern regions will see snow, it isn't out of the question for Cambs. In Cambridge, temperatures are expected to dive down from 9C to 5C over the course of the week, with Friday bringing the coldest weather. Addressing the chance of snow, the Met Office said it was "uncertain" exactly where it would fall. Chris Bulmer, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist said: “Although winter has started rather abruptly, this colder spell is expected to be part of typical seasonal fluctuations and doesn’t set the mould for the rest of winter. “

The full forecast reads: "Colder, unsettled conditions are expected to spread to the entire UK on Thursday with frequent showers, areas of heavy rain and some hill snow. "There is also the chance of some snow to lower levels in places later in the week though away from hills it is currently uncertain exactly where snow will fall. "In the clear periods between bands of wintry showers, frosts are likely and these could be sharp or even severe in prolonged clear conditions in north-western parts of the UK.
