Breaking News ! Queen of the South comeback hero Isaiah Jones revealed how he feared his season was over when he suffered an agonising hamstring injury at Arbroath. He had to be helped off the pitch in March, but following intensive physiotherapy during his rehabilitation at parent club Middlesbrough, Jones has returned to first team action. And he came on as a substitute in the second half of Monday night’s Scottish Cup defeat to Scottish Premiership outfit Hibs. Jones, on loan from Boro, said: “It was good to be back but it wasn’t the result that we wanted. “It was a hamstring injury I had and, to be fair, when it happened I thought my season was finished. “But the physios at Boro got me back as quick as possible and now I am hoping to help get the team into the play-offs. “I was training at Boro last Monday and came up here on Thursday then trained Friday and Saturday and although I feel good, I am not up to match fitness yet. “I was wary of the injury (when I was playing) but I am not scared of it. “It was a tough game and Hibs are one of the top teams in Scotland. “We started very well and played some good football but it wasn’t the result we were looking for. “We have Inverness and Raith coming up which are both big games and hopefully we get something from these two.” Meanwhile, midfielder Joe McKee is set to savour every minute on the pitch after being sidelined for eight weeks before his recent return. He was on the bench for the 3-1 cup loss to Hibs and told of his determination to reclaim a slot in the starting line up. McKee said of his time on the sidelines: “We thought the injury was only going to be half the time (to recover from).

. “I really thought I would be back a lot earlier and my mindset was to try and keep as fit as I can, but when I started to come back in training there were setbacks. “So I am just glad to be by all that now. “I am happy to be back for the last five games which are all big games for us now. “We just have to do what we have done all season and that is just to take it one game at a time.” McKee insisted he had no fears about missing out on the rest of the Doonhamers’ campaign and added: “For me it is about getting back in the team. “I have spoken to the gaffer about it when the boys were on that good run but for me the most important thing is for the team to win. “It would be nice to get back in and I just have to keep working hard and see what happens. “It is a tight league and there are not many points between five or six teams and this season you have seen every team can beat each other. He dismissed home advantage and said: “We have won games at home and won them away. “So we have to out work the other teams and take it a game at a time. “At the start of the season it was practically a whole new team and it took a bit of time to gel, but now the boys are comfortable with each other. “It is a big week for us against Inverness and then Raith and it’s five cup finals coming up and we have to concentrate first on getting the three points on Saturday against Inverness.”
