Breaking News ! Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom will not investigate Diversity’s routine on Britain’s Got Talent after receiving over 24,500 complaints. The dance troupe stunned viewers with a moving Black Lives Matter-inspired routine at the first of this year's pre-recorded semi-finals. However, in the weeks since, thousands of viewers have taken issue with the performance and contacted Ofcom to air their grievances. After reviewing the situation, the broadcasting watchdog has announced that there will be no formal investigation. A statement issued this morning reads: “We carefully considered a large number of complaints about this artistic routine, an area where freedom of expression is particularly important. “Diversity’s performance referred to challenging and potentially controversial subjects, and in our view, its central message was a call for social cohesion and unity. “Any depictions of violence by the performers were highly stylised and symbolic of recent global events, and there was no explicit reference to any particular political organisation – but rather a message that the lives of black people matter.” ITV previously stood by the dance troupe, issuing a statement which praised Diversity for their "authentic [and] heartfelt" performance. BGT judge Alesha Dixon also spoke out in support of the dancers, who won BGT in 2009.

. "That reaction shows exactly why this performance was needed," he said. "Racism is very real. I knew it before and I definitely know it now.” Diversity's Ashley Banjo ‘stands by’ Black Lives Matter BGT performance The dancer also told his Instagram followers that he's received a huge amount of positive messages too. "Thank you so much to everyone who has supported, shown love, and stood by what we did," he said.
