Breaking News ! Nicola Sturgeon is on course for an overall majority in the Scottish Parliament, according to another opinion poll published today. The SNP would return 71 seats in the Holyrood chamber and achieve 53 per cent of the constituency vote if the survey is correct. It would also mean Alex Salmond 's new Alba Party, set up to create a 'super-majority' in the parliament, will return no MSPs. Douglas Ross and his Scottish Conservatives would be the biggest opposition party with 27 seats and 21 per cent of the constituency vote on May 6. The poll for Sky News and conducted by Opinium asked 1,023 adults across Scotland online between April 1 and 6. There are no real winners in this survey apart from the SNP. Despite a strong showing in the first TV debate on BBC One Scotland Anas Sarwar's Labour Party would achieve 21 seats, which is down two on the 2016 election.

. The SNP is on course to secure 44 per cent in the list and 53 in the constituency. Recent surveys have been favourable to the Greens, however the Sky poll shows they would return six seats with Willie Rennie's Lib Dems achieving just four. The Alba Party and George Galloway's All for Unity party would fail to register any seats. Chris Curtis, Senior Research Manager at Opinium, said: "If Scottish unionists had been hoping that the fallout between Salmond and Sturgeon would hurt the SNP, then our latest polling is going to be a disappointment. "It looks like being on the campaign trail has further boosted the First Minister’s ratings, while the unpopularity of Alex Salmond has meant he is struggling to make a dent. "Perhaps the most disappointing results in the poll are for the Labour party. "Their new leader’s surging popularity is currently failing to translate into any more votes, as Labour ends up in the unenviable position of being everyone’s second choice."
