MetiNews.Com - The Hoops disaster will remain in the game despite hanging up his boots
Breaking News ! Celtic misfit Marvin Compper has retired from football and sealed an instant coaching role at German third tier side Duisburg. The one-cap Germany international cost Celtic £1million when he signed three years ago but was completely frozen out at Parkhead under Brendan Rodgers and featured in just one solitary game for the Hoops - a 3-0 Scottish Cup win against Morton. He was allowed to leave to return to his homeland and played his first game for an incredible 505 days when he made his debut for Duisburg last season. But after a season playing in Germany's lower leagues, Compper has now announced his retirement at the age of 35. And he is now an assistant coach at Duisburg.
. "I hope I can contribute with my experience and knowledge of the game and work under manager Torsten Lieberknecht. "I've had a great career, but the time was right to take the next move and go into coaching." Duisburg boss Lieberknecht said: "It's a win-win situation for us. Marvin's expertise is something we will all learn from and we both agreed it was a great move for him and this club."
