Breaking News ! Jack Fitzwater hopes recent games against Jack Grealish and Paul Pogba will help him “hit the ground running” at Livingston FC. The defender joined Livingston from West Bromwich Albion at the start of this month but played some friendly games with The Baggies immediately before departing. He believes that mixing it in such company can only help him to cement a place in Gary Holt’s starting eleven. Fitzwater said: “I was at West Brom all the way through until the end of June so I got a few preseason games in then and I signed here on July 4. “Our first game was against Villa and they had a real strong side out. I think we played four 30 minutes so everyone got a decent amount of time. Obviously you are coming up against Jack Grealish, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba. There are so many names to list off and you can only learn from them. I felt fit and felt sharp and literally within two weeks I had signed with Livingston after they two games. I was more than ready to come up and hit the ground running.” The 22-year-old came through the ranks at West Brom and managed almost 100 appearances in the English lower leagues on loan at the likes of Forest Green Rovers and Walsall. He made his debut for the West Midland club in January in an FA Cup third round win over Charlton Athletic but after talks with gaffer Slaven Bilic he decided to go out and get first-team football every week.
. This helped him make up his mind to come to Scotland when he was leaving West Brom.

He explained: “I spoke to them briefly before I came and they have helped me settle in. “The group of lads in the changing room are really good anyway and have helped me ease myself into the training sessions and banter within the group, so it has been really good. “When I had that chemistry with John and Nicky we played quite well together and we had a good understanding. I made my debut along with John and Nicky and we won 1-0 and I am looking forward to playing again with them and getting Livingston as high up the table as we can. “ The Englishman said that Bilic had pleaded with him to stay in January and help with their promotion push but when they talked again in June it was decided he should leave for the good of his career. He wishes his old boss well but now just wants to concentrate on Livingston and himself. Fitzwater added: “He is great he is one of the best man managers I have worked with. He listens to players, he speaks to players and tells you what he wants so he has been nothing but great for me and I am really happy that we got promoted. “It was important for me to get out and kick start my career again. I had 18 months of getting told I was doing really well but I was not playing and I am at an place where I need to get out and get games and go and show the world what I am about really.”
