Breaking News ! "A former loyalist flag protester and far-right activist is running for the Scottish Parliament. Jim Dowson is standing in the Airdrie and Shotts constituency in next month's poll.In a video, he launched a full-frontal attack on the SNP calling it "an Irish republican Marxist gang of semi-criminals and lunatics".He said it was important to "get the voice of the normal decent Scottish unionist out there" as Scotland was "a basket case ... led by a bunch of lunatics".Dowson addressed many rallies in Belfast during the flag protests. At one, he told the PSNI: "You can arrest 10,000 of us, you won't get us off the street and you won't stop us flying the Union flag - ever."He helped set up the Protestant Coalition in 2013. He appeared in court accused of a number of offences linked to the flag protests. In 2015, Dowson was given a three-month suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to three charges of participating in unlawful processions two years earlier. A former Calvinist minister, he was also involved in anti-abortion protests in Belfast.Dowson is standing against former SNP MP Neil Gray, who vacated his Westminster seat to run for Holyrood. In a video on the British Freedom Party channel of online video platform Purged.tv, he said he didn't believe he would be elected but he thought he was respected in the constituency due to being a political "constant" over the decades.Dowson boasted that he had a proven track record as a "jail-bird" and someone who had "been on the frontline". He said: "I don't mind being called a bigot.
. I'm there to represent the indigenous Scots, the people who go back 10,000 years in that land."I've no interest in indulging in democratic nonsense. If I could use political power to get these people back to their ancestral homelands, I certainly will."Appealing for funds to help run an election campaign, he chastised those who supported his political views but were reluctant to donate money. He said people would holiday in Tenerife or Magaluf "blow two or three grand on cheap drink and chasing women like buffoons getting the British a bad name, but they'll do nothing to improve or save their own country." Also appearing in the video is Jayda Fransen, a former deputy leader of Britain First who was found guilty in 2019 of stirring up hatred over a speech she made about Islam in Belfast.Fransen is standing in Glasgow Southside against Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. She alleged that Scotland was "being run like some sort of banana republic".She claimed that the British Freedom Party was making political inroads. "We're a young party but we are the fastest growing British nationalist party in the UK. Our membership is booming because we are the only legitimate option."We're Christian, we're unionist, we're traditionalist, we're conservative. This is what people want, this is what they're crying out for," she said. "We mean business. We're going to take the fight to the SNP because they're a bunch of communist traitors."Franzen claimed that the SNP were "more than happy to drive Scotland into the ground" and to destroy the Union. The party wanted to rejoin an EU "run by unelected bureaucrats", she said."
