During a live stream this week, Sony announced the game, along with the PS5 console price and release date. In what could be a welcome relief to many, Final Fantasy seems to be heading back to a more medieval setting, ditching a lot of sci-fi elements from more recent games. As well, if the combat looks familiar to you, that's because the person rumoured to be in charge of the battle design, Ryouta Suzuki, has previously worked with Capcom on games like Dragon's Dogma and Devil May Cry.
The game will be single-player and it looks like Sony has pulled out the stops to make sure this doesn't come to Xbox, at least not any time soon. Final Fantasy XVI will, however, come to PC at some point, but that's all we know at the moment.
