Breaking News ! Mikel Arteta suggested that the VAR official did not adequately check a possible penalty against Kyle Walker in Manchester City's victory over Arsenal. After City had taken the lead through Raheem Sterling in the first half, Ederson produced three big saves to deny Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when through on goal. And just before half time, Arteta felt Arsenal should have been awarded a penalty for a high boot from Walker as he challenged for a ball with Gabriel Magalhaes at a corner. Walker did not make contact with Gabriel, but the foot was at head height. The on-field officials did not judge there to have been an offence, immediately blowing for half-time with no apparent VAR review. "I am upset because I think we deserved more from the game," Arteta told Sky Sports. "I'm extremely happy with the performance against a top, top team. To come here with the attitude and courage and to make it as difficult as we made today, I have to say I cannot demand more from the players. Apart from when you have three big chances in a game you have to score.

"That has to be checked. They say they have checked and I ask 'how the hell have you checked if you took two seconds to check that action?' Obviously there is something there." Arteta also pointed to his spell as assistant to Pep Guardiola, using his knowledge of City's approach to declare that his Arsenal side are already much-improved from when he took over nearly a year ago. He continued: "I have to review that but every goal the opponent scores there is something early or after. We cannot change that. "We know everything has to be perfect in both boxes against them but again I have to say we've come a long way. I'm extremely happy. I was in that dressing room for four years and I know what it takes to do what we did tonight."
