Breaking News ! Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Manchester United have to be open to signing another striker to keep their current forwards focused. United are committed to signing a playmaker and a winger in the next transfer window but have also been linked with signing another goalscorer, having recruited Odion Ighalo on loan until the start of next year. Following the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan last summer United failed with an attempt to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus and tentative interest in teammate Mario Mandzukic and Lyon forward Moussa Dembele amounted to nought. United tracked RB Leipzig and Germany marksman Timo Werner before he agreed to join Chelsea. After moving to United in 1996, Solskjaer saw Teddy Sheringham and Dwight Yorke arrive in successive summers before the club record signing of Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2001; a year later than intended. Solskjaer was sidelined for the majority of 2004 and Sir Alex Ferguson bought Louis Saha, Alan Smith, and Wayne Rooney. Solskjaer wants similarly intense competition.

"We've always got to look at improving, and if they don't improve, we might have to look somewhere else to get better because we have to be better. We're too far away from where we need to be and want to be." Ighalo's loan from Shanghai Shenhua was originally due to expire on May 31 but United have extended it until the New Year.
