Breaking News ! A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was assaulted in Stockport town centre. Police were called to reports of a fight on St Petersgate at around 1.05am on Saturday (1 August). Officers attended the scene but the group had already fled before their arrival. A man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to hospital by ambulance crews. His injures are being described as serious.
