Thousands of people across the country face rearranging summer package holidays this summer. While some countries are starting to relax their restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic, government advice for Brits is still to avoid all non-essential global travel. Some airlines have grounded commercial flights, while others have restarted international journeys. Scores of holidays are still in doubt, which means those who have booked package trips need be aware of a number of changes. British Airways British Airways is urging customers to regularly check updates regarding their specific flights on its website. Bosses say that if a flight has already been cancelled - or it is scheduled for between now and July 31 - passengers can claim a voucher to the value of the booking, which will be valid for travel until April 30, 2022. Virgin Holidays Virgin Holidays has said that any holidays departing up to May 17, 2020 will not go ahead as planned. Bosses add that they will contact customers to let the know as soon as possible if their holiday has been affected. Virgin Atlantic has reassured its customers that if their holiday is cancelled they will automatically keep the ticket open as credit up until May 31, 2022. If you're due to travel before this date, unfortunately, your booking will be affected. If you're booked on a flight after June 16, 2020, Jet2 says your booking is currently unaffected - and there's no need to contact them. This is likely to depend on the latest goverment lockdown advice due next week. Tui Tui announced earlier this week it had extented cancellations by a further four weeks. All holidays booked through the firm before June 11 have been cancelled. Their Marella Cruises are also cancelled up until June 30. TUI River Cruises sailings travelling up until and including 25 November 25, 2020 have also been axed. The company does have a 'travel promise' which is offering its customers more flexibility during the on-going situation. The company says on its website: "If you have an existing booking for a TUI or First Choice package holiday, booked before 17 March 2020 and travelling on or before 11 July 2020, you can amend for free to any holiday that’s currently on sale. "And, if you have an existing booking for a Marella Cruises sailing, booked before 17 March 2020 and travelling on or before 31 July 2020, you can amend for free to any holiday that’s currently on sale. If you choose a holiday that’s cheaper than the one you originally booked, we’ll refund you the difference. If you choose a holiday that’s more expensive than your original booking, you’ll need to pay the difference in price. You can make a change free of charge up until seven days before your original departure date. This policy is in place until 31 May 2020. So, if your holiday departs after 8 June 2020, you must make any amends on or before 31 May 2020."
