Breaking News ! A woman and her two lurcher dogs are lucky to be alive after coming into contact with a live power cable in a Huddersfield street today (Thurs). A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 2.59pm to Cowersley Lane in Huddersfield to a report two dogs had been injured after coming into contact with a live power cable in the street. "A woman walking them had also received a shock after handling the animals. "The woman did not require hospital treatment following the incident, and the dogs were taken to a vets to be monitored. Police at the scene on Cowerseley Lane, Huddersfield, after a woman and her two lurcher dogs received electric shocks from a live cable (Image: Facebook) "The area was cordoned off and then made safe by electrical workers who attended." When the incident was posted on Facebook one woman said: "It sounded horrible, frothing etc.
. "Their owner got tingling up her arms just touching them."

Another woman said: "There was another lady who posted that her dog yelped when going over it. "But if you notice all the snow has melted round. That's not salt from the road that's something else. "I walked both down and back up that road and it was still covered quite bad." Northern Powergrid has been contacted for comment.
