Breaking News ! These are some of the criminals from York and North Yorkshire who were locked up last month. The list includes a couple of burglars and a child sex offender. It also includes a hit-and-run biker who left a child with life-changing injuries and drug trafficker who escaped prison and went on the run to Spain. All of the sentencing hearings listed below took place either at York Crown Court or at Leeds Crown Court. Carl Robert Teasdale Carl Robert Teasdale had been offered a job by the victim several years before he robbed him. (Image: NYP) A 'violent and cowardly' masked burglar who broke into a pensioner's home and 'pistol-whipped' him before making off with £10,000 was jailed for eight years. Carl Robert Teasdale attacked the 69-year-old man - who had previously offered Teasdale a job - in his home at the end of last year. The 27-year-old targeted the address in Potto, a small village near Stokesley, North Yorkshire, at around 9pm on October 31 2019 while the victim was home alone watching television in his front room. Teasdale, of Bridgend Close, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, assault causing actual bodily harm and theft of a motor vehicle. Stephen Ambrose Woodall Stephen Ambrose Woodall has been jailed (Image: North Yorkshire Police) A bungling burglar who fell asleep during a raid was jailed for six years. Stephen Ambrose Woodall broke into a property on Maplehurst Avenue in York on May 29 this year. The victim, who had been at home alone, was woken by strange noises coming from downstairs at around 8am. When she went downstairs, she found Woodall, 45, asleep on her living room floor. Daniel John Gresham Daniel John Gresham has been jailed (Image: North Yorkshire Police) A paedophile from Harrogate who made and distributed indecent images of a young child he had abused was jailed for three years. A search warrant was carried out at Daniel John Gresham's home address on March 4 this year after he shared indecent images online in February. It was found that he had taken the images of the girl between October 2013 and October 2015. The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to the sexual touching of a girl aged under 13, making Category C indecent images and distributing Category C indecent images. He was made subject to a 15-year sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offender register. Nathan Lofthouse Nathan Lofthouse has been jailed (Image: North Yorkshire Police) A hit-and-run biker who ploughed into a 12-year-old girl and then left her for dead was jailed for two years and 10 months. Nathan Lofthouse, of Askham Croft, York, hid his Kawasaki bike and clothes after the crash to try to evade justice. The victim was left fighting for her life in intensive care after being hit on Boroughbridge Road in June last year and she has been left with life-changing injuries. Officers recovered the motorbike, which had drugs in one of the compartments.

. He later changed his story and said he did not know he had hit a pedestrian and, although he saw the police appeal for information, he had not come forward because he was uninsured. He pleaded guilty to failing to stop after a collision, perverting the course of justice, having no licence and no insurance and possession of class B drugs, namely cannabis, with intent to supply. The 31-year-old, who is nicknamed 'Dobbo' and from Malton in North Yorkshire, was jailed for 13-and-a-half years in January 2014 after he was convicted of trafficking heroin and amphetamines. He vanished from his cell at HMP Hatfield Lakes, a category D open prison in South Yorkshire, in November 2018. The National Crime Agency tracked him down to Spain earlier this year, where he was living under a false name and he was arrested as the Spanish Civil Guard smashed an organised crime group. The underground plant, which had a full production line and could produce 3,500 cigarettes an hour, was said to be the first of its kind found in the European Union. John Lowndes John Lowndes (Image: North Yorkshire Police) An abusive man was given more prison time after breaching a 10-year restraining order and trying to control his victim from his cell. John Lowndes, 48, had just started serving a two-year prison sentence for making threats to kill and engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour when he sent the woman letters using other inmates' names. He was attempting to intimidate her to get her to request that the restraining order be lifted. He also encouraged other prisoners to contact her. Lowndes, who was due to be released from prison on June 30, was arrested for the breach at the prison gates and was remanded in custody until his appearance in court earlier this week. He pleaded guilty to breaching a 10-year restraining order and was jailed for two years.
