MetiNews.Com - Chris Wilder has a few players he can turn to for the visit of Marcelo Bielsa's men
Breaking News ! Sheffield United will be without influential defender John Egan for the visit of Leeds on Sunday. The Blades centre half, who was skipper for the night, was sent off after 12 minutes against Aston Villa on Monday - a decision that left manager Chris Wilder furious. TV cameras clearly showed both Egan and Ollie Watkins had their arms across each other as they tussled for the ball, yet referee Graham Scott decided to show a straight red to Egan for the denial of a goalscoring opportunity. Wilder felt the referee should have spoken with his assistant, who was just 10 yards away, had a clear view and did not flag. However, despite it being checked by VAR, the decision was upheld and it leaves the manager with a selection decision for Sunday. The most obvious option is to bring either Phil Jagielka or Ethan Ampadu in to replace the Republic of Ireland international. The experienced Jagielka penned a new deal this summer to remain at the club and has already featured in the pre-season friendlies and at Burnley in the Carabao Cup. Ampadu came on at centre half on Monday when Wilder changed his tactics to 4-4-1 following Egan's dismissal and did well alongside Jack O'Connell. But that could have also given the manager food for thought regarding a change of tactics, too. He could opt for the same back four and push Chris Basham further forward, a tactic that worked at Elland Road last time out when the midfielder scored that now iconic winner in the second half. While he has finished with a back four on numerous occasions in the past, he has not started with one in the Premier League. If he feels Jagielka could be exposed to Leeds' pacey attack, or that Ampadu still needs more experience to be the central focus of the three, he could opt for that. Jack Rodwell is also an alternative having played in this position before but is the least likeliest option.
