Breaking News ! Six people have been safeguarded following concerns over their living and working conditions at a North Yorkshire takeaway. While investigators noted several potential indicators of labour exploitation, no modern slavery offences were identified at the food outlet in Ripon. The six people were safeguarded during the visit and have been placed into temporary accommodation. Officers from the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) were joined by Harrogate Borough Council, North Yorkshire Police, Immigration Enforcement and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service on their visit on September 9. A number of housing and fire safety issues are being dealt with separately by the council and fire service.
