Breaking News ! Customers have been flocking back to their high streets to make full use of the non-essential shops reopening, which happened last month. The businesses were given the go-ahead to reopen following the easing of lockdown restrictions - with pubs and restaurants due to follow this weekend (from Saturday, July 4). But the pandemic has hit some retailers hard and some stores remain closed for now - with some under threat of never returning to the High Street. There are some retailers who have decided to keep their staff on furlough for the time being while they work on making their business safe for their employees and customers, the Mirror has reported. These are the chains who have confirmed that some - or in certain cases all - will remain shut: Aldo The footwear store closed all 13 stores after it went into administration. Brighthouse - BrightHouse This business went into administration in March. It trades from 240 stores across the UK and has around 200,000 customers.

. Cath Kidston None of the 60 stores will reopen after lockdown, the chain has confirmed. While the online operation will continue, there has been a loss of over 900 jobs. Debenhams There are 50 branches reopening from Monday but the retailer has struggled. It has gone into administration twice in the past year. The chain has confirmed 20 stores will remain closed. Laura Ashley While it continues to trade online, 70 of its high street stores will not reopen.
