Breaking News ! Lyndsey Pass and Maria Wise from Shaw Vets and Crown House Vets are joining to do a sponsored ponytail chop Two vets from Crown House Vets in Rochdale and Shaw will be cutting their hair to raise money for the Oldham Cats rescue centre. Lyndsey Pass and Maria Wise have decided to cut off 33 inches of their long hair between them and are asking for sponsorship to help raise much-needed funds for Oldham Cat Rescue. Rescue centres across the country have been hit hard during the pandemic, with many receiving fewer donations than usual due to a lack of fundraising events and people’s financial concerns resulting from furlough or job losses. Added to that is the difficulty of rehoming animals while home visits and visits to rescue centres aren’t possible, so when the vets offered to chop their hair, Oldham Cats jumped at the offer. Lyndsey said: “I have always had a long ponytail, but I’m happy to have the chop to help the excellent work that Oldham Cats do rehoming and neutering cats.” Davina Hanes, of Oldham Cat Rescue, said: “Oldham Cat Rescue is a non-profit, registered charity and we care for, neuter and successfully rehome hundreds of cats every year. The pandemic over the past year has had a huge financial impact on us with a lack of fundraising opportunities. This fabulous fundraiser will certainly help us with our veterinary bill.
Once their hair has been chopped, they will be donating it to Little Princess Trust, which uses donated hair to make wigs for children and young adults who are suffering with hair loss.
Maria added: “I have not had my hair cut for about two years, but I wanted to do my bit to help our local cats during the pandemic as all charities are struggling at the moment, so I am chopping my pony tail. I am going to miss my hair, so please help us make it worth it.”
Donations can be made via PayPal to firstname.lastname@example.org. The rescue requests that donors state that you are donating to support Lyndsey and Maria so the fundraising can be monitored.
Alternatively, if you are due to visit either the Rochdale or Shaw branches of Crown House Vets, you can donate in person.
