Premier league news Talk over Jorginho's future must be halted until the end of the season Last spor news
MetiNews.Com - The Blues midfielder has constantly been linked with a return to Italy since Maurizio Sarri left Chelsea in the summer of 2019
Breaking News ! There is a scene in the 2001 remake of Ocean's Eleven in which George Clooney's character, Danny Ocean, asks a very simple question to Linus Caldwell, portrayed by Matt Damon. "You're either in or you're out? Right now." There will be many a Chelsea fan hoping Thomas Tuchel asks Jorginho that very question in the days ahead. The Italian midfielder started in last night's victory over Porto and was received, somewhat curiously in truth, the man-of-the-match award by UEFA. It meant the Italian was dutybound to undertake a post-match interview or two. And when speaking to Sky Italia, he rather surprisingly admitted he would be keen to return to former club Napoli in the future. "I had a wonderful experience and I am very fond of the city and the fans. “Now honestly, I’m not thinking about it because my concentration is all on Chelsea. However, if there is the possibility, one day, you don’t know when, to return, of course, I’d like it.” This isn't the first time a return to Napoli for Jorginho has been discussed. It's not the second, third or fourth either. A quick Google search will prove that. November 18, 2020. “Jorginho has a personal and professional bond with the coach [Maurizio Sarri] that is very strong," the player's agent Joao Santos told Calciomercato. "We’re waiting to see where Sarri goes, and if it’s a big club in Italy, Jorginho could follow him.” February 12, 2021: “Football is dynamic and nothing can be ruled out,” Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “If Sarri returns to Napoli, he could try to bring back Jorginho, he’s perfect for his football.

March 25, 2021: "He is an Italy international, and we are thinking about a return to Serie A if he leaves the Blues," Santos explained to Naples-based station Radio Marte. "If Napoli will make an offer, we'll evaluate it. He had a great time in Naples, and he has many friends over there." April 8, 2021: "He wants to return to Italy," Santos again told Radio Kiss Kiss, via Calciomercato. "If Napoli have the will to bring him back to the squad, we will be well predisposed." That the latest comments from Santos came less than 24 hours after Chelsea defeated Porto in the first leg of their Champions League semi-finals and have, unsurprisingly, irked the majority of Blues supporters. As with most things in life, timing is everything. Such statements within the context of a transfer window would be expected, understood even. Ultimately, an agent must look out for the player's best interests even if that does irritate their club and its fanbase. Jorginho will have just two years left on his contract come the summer. Decisions do have to be made as to what the next step is for the Italy international. But first, that big question must be answered: "You're either in or you're out?"
If Chelsea are prepared to offer Jorginho a new contract, something not inconceivable given he has featured in all but one of the Premier League matches since Tuchel's appointment, and the 29-year-old is ready to commit, then it shouldn't be too difficult for a deal to be struck. Yet if Jorginho does truly harbour ambitions of moving back to Italy and specifically returning to Napoli, then that must be communicated to the Blues, who can begin to plan accordingly ahead of the summer transfer window. What Chelsea don't need during the final two months of the campaign is off-field distractions and public flirtations from players' agents. They need everyone invested, everyone committed. Only then can Tuchel can play his strongest hand and perhaps pull off the most unexpected of trophy heists in the Champions League.
