MetiNews.Com - Chelsea defeated Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of their Champions League showdown but Timo Werner struggled
Breaking News ! Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has issued fresh criticism directed towards Timo Werner following his latest poor performance. The Germany international had shown signs of a rejuvenation in recent weeks but came under the spotlight once again after Chelsea's 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid. Werner was guilty of spurning a number of decent opportunities during the game before being hauled off in the closing stages for Christian Pulisic. "But he just frustrates you. There are far too many times where he’s too loose in possession when building up or decision-making when he gets into [dangerous] areas. "Sometimes fast players sometimes have to slow the game down in their mind. They’re running so fast everything else is a blur, and that’s maybe how he seems at the moment." Werner has scored 10 goals and contributed nine assists for Chelsea in all competitions so far this season.
