Breaking News ! Newcastle United fans should give under-fire boss Steve Bruce the 'benefit of the doubt' at the moment because he does not have a 'great squad'. That's the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, who believes the Magpies are still doing okay in the Premier League despite their recent run of form. The pundit reckons Bruce does not have the quality at his disposal to take the Magpies further up the table - despite their summer moves for the likes of Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis. The head coach has repeatedly told reporters he does not expect any significant business in the current window, and Campbell believes he would be keen to "strengthen" if the funds were available. Campbell told Football Insider: “Newcastle need to cut their cloth accordingly.

I would give him the benefit of the doubt at the moment because they do not have a great squad. “Can Steve Bruce move and shake in the window? I am sure he would want to strengthen.”
