Breaking News ! An urgent search has been launched for an elderly man who went missing from hospital in Newcastle. William Wright, who suffers from dementia, has not been seen since he left the RVI hospital shortly before 6.30pm on Tuesday. Enquiries to locate the 79-year-old are ongoing but both his family and officers are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Officers searching for William are releasing his photo along with a CCTV image of him leaving the RVI earlier today in the hopes someone has seen him and can help narrow the search. "William suffers from dementia and may appear confused when approached by other members of the public. "Anyone who has seen William, or may have information about his whereabouts, is asked to contact police immediately quoting reference number 844 04/05/21."
