Breaking News ! Two venues in Sunderland have been forced to close their doors after their customers tested positive for coronavirus. Ryhope Cricket Club, on Ryhope Street, and the Golden Fleece Pub, in Silksworth, Sunderland, both announced on Saturday that they were closing temporarily due to confirmed Covid cases. The Golden Fleece said it is closing until further notice and will not reopen until all staff have been tested and the pub has been deep cleaned. In a statement on its Facebook page, the pub said: "Unfortunately, we will not be open until further notice as an irresponsible customer who was showing Covid symptoms while awaiting their test results decided to have a night out. "Today we have just got the news that they have tested positive. "Sorry for any inconvenience this causes but our customer's safety comes first. "Soon as our staff have been tested and the pub has been deep cleaned we will update you all. Ryhope Cricket Club said a case of coronavirus was reported on Friday evening (July 31) and said they must suspend all cricket activity for 72 hours.

. It said: "There was a reported coronavirus case which occurred in the clubhouse late last night. "Whilst we are confident this has not affected the playing side, the safety of our players and parents is paramount.
