Lee Johnson made just one change to the side that thrashed Burton Albion - Callum McFadzean replacing Jake Vokins with Sunderland lining up in the same 3-4-3 formation they did down at the Pirelli Stadium. It was the visitors who went close early on. A crossfield ball from the right found Kyle Vassell on the edge of the area - his first time volley had too much on it for Harvey Saunders and went out for a goal kick to Sunderland.
. Aiden McGeady forced Cairns into a good save just before the break. It was a good first-half of football for Lee Johnson's side who looked threatening throughout.
