Breaking News ! It's set to be another cold weekend in the UK as forecasters have warned of sub zero temperatures and strong gales in some regions. The Met Office has predicted a low of -3°C in northern areas this morning as wintry weather returns for a second time this week. A yellow warning for snow and ice is also in force with warnings of slippery road surfaces in the northern half of mainland Scotland, until 10am on Friday, reports the Mirror. Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said: " Winter returns again across the UK during Friday. "As a band of showery rain moves south the cold front associated with that opens the door to yet more northerly winds. "That Artic air returning for a second time in a week. The source air is slightly less cold and with slightly less strong winds. " Snow showers will be less widespread. The air will be less cold, only slightly, but still unusually cold for April." Along with sub zero temperatures, forecasters also predicted that gales of up to 70 mph will affect Shetland. In the North East, it'll be frosty on Friday with some sunny intervals expected in the morning. The weather will then turn cloudy throughout the afternoon with some light showers to develop which could turn wintry over the hills.
