Breaking News ! Newcastle United players have become 'used' to takeover speculation and will 'wait for the answer like all of us', according to Steve Bruce. The fate of the club's prospective takeover has been in the hands of the Premier League, who have been conducting their owners' and directors' test, for several months now. The would-be owners, Amanda Staveley, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and the Reuben Brothers, did not envisage such a wait for a verdict. While this is the furthest a bid has ever got in the Ashley era, it is certainly not the first time a proposed takeover has dominated the headlines on Tyneside in recent years. But Bruce does not believe it will affect his players' performance because the core of the side who helped the Magpies win the Championship in 2017 have been at the club for a while now. "The vast majority have been here a good few years and how many times have we been talking about takeovers?" he told reporters on a Zoom call. "I’ve only been here 11 months! I think they’ve become sort of used to it and it’s become the norm. As I've said many times about this group of players, a lot of them have been here a few years now and the club means something to them. I think they’ll get on with it and wait for the answer like all of us and let’s hope there’s an answer quickly.

. The club have hired a bigger plane so that players and staff can adhere to social distancing rules, a hotel has been opened up especially for Newcastle down on the South Coast and Bournemouth and Newcastle Airports are staying open late to facilitate the journey home. While it may be business as usual in some ways, or at least something resembling normality, there is no doubt that Newcastle fans will be missed. “If you were going to take a football fan for granted, I don’t think anyone will do that now, especially at a club like ours," Bruce added. Newcastle United certainly missed their supporters in their FA Cup quarter-final defeat against Man City at St James' Park "The general talk amongst us all is that it’s not the same. It’s not the same spectacle. The Premier League is the most successful league because of the great players, but great players still need that motivation from the support from the stands. "We shouldn’t take them for granted. Look, it’s better than nothing, but sooner or later we have to get the supporters back in somehow. Let’s hope, by the start of next season, that’ll hopefully be in place because without it it's very difficult."
