Breaking News ! Ant and Dec have announced that they will be taking a break to spend time with their friends and family. The Geordie duo, who have been off our screens since the end of March, after hosting the last few episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway separately from their living rooms due to the coronavirus pandemic, have been spotted out and about over the past two few weeks. Last week, after speculation that they were planning on bringing back SMTV sketch show Chums, they were seen in London with their former co-host Cat Deeley and then on Friday they were in the capital again for filming, this time thought to be something to do with their upcoming tell-all book Once Upon A Tyne. The book will be released in the autumn and is set to be one of the year's biggest sellers, but before then we'll not be seeing much of Ant and Dec as they have revealed they're having some time off. What happened once the credits rolled on hit BBC show Taking to their Twitter account on Saturday morning, they posted: "We’re both taking a break for a few weeks to spend time with family and friends. Wishing everyone a great month and we’ll see you at the end of August!" Fans were quick to react to the tweet, with one commenting: "And why not. You deserve it. Thanks for all the entertainment.
. Have a nice break. See you in 4 weeks," and another replied: "Thank you both for entertaining us through these weird times and all of this year, you truly deserve this break. Enjoy it." On Friday, the presenting pair, who first shot to fame on Byker Grove in the early 90s, announced that they would be hosting an online party for fans to mark their 30 years in showbiz.
Announcing the event, they posted: "Seeing as we can’t meet you all face to face in the current climate, we thought it would be a great idea to put on this event and see you all virtually. “You’ll be able to ask us plenty of questions about being on the telly together for 30 years and we can share some of our favourite stories from the book.”
