Breaking News ! RESIDENTS have been left fearful after a man was stabbed in broad daylight. A man was left with serious injuries after the stabbing yesterday afternoon, which police believe was a targeted attack. And now those living nearby have been left reeling following the stabbing on the Ashlyns, with homeowners left scared to leave their homes. Two teenagers were arrested in Benfleet yesterday afternoon. A 16-year-old from Basildon on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 19-year-old from Benfleet was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. One resident, a 66-year-old from the Willows, told the Echo how she would "move from Pitsea if she had the chance." She said: "I'm disabled, and am scared to go outside during the day and at night. "I'm frightened to pop to the shops. If I'm short of bread and milk, I will wait till I'm absolutely empty before I have to go out. "It's dreadful around here, and Northlands Park is terrible. "I've had two attempted break ins in the past two years. I can't even keep my back door unlocked during the day now." A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We are investigating after a man was stabbed in Pitsea in what is being treated as a targeted attack. "We were contacted at 3.50pm on Tuesday 16 February with reports a group of men were seen in Wimbish End, some with weapons. "Officers and paramedics attended and found a man with serious injuries in Ashlyns Road. He remains in hospital in a stable condition "Anyone who saw what happened or has information, but has yet to speak to police, is asked to contact us quoting incident 763 of 16 February.
