Breaking News ! Actor Will Mellor has opened up about the shocking abuse he faced after he was cast in Hollyoaks 25 years ago. Will, who joined the soap as James 'Jambo' Bolton when it was launched in 1995, was stunned to receive a lack of support in his own community over the role. A vile anonymous letter sent to the Channel Four show demanded that the star, now 44, should be fired and threatened to 'smash his head in.' "Someone sent a letter into Hollyoaks saying 'if he comes in the pub again, we're gonna smash his head in ... you better fire him." he recalled. I put it on the dartboard and I said 'who wrote that?' because they didn't put their name on the bottom. "I never found out who it was. It was from my local pub where I grew up on the estate and I couldn't believe it." Opening up to reality TV star Jsky on his podcast Jsky Chat - The Podcast he says he had to work at winning people round. "I thought they'd be supporting me," said the star from Bredbury. "I was still just me. Just because I'm on TV now, nothing's changed." Will, from Bredbury, played Jambo for three years and he went on to play Gaz Wilkinson in the comedy Two Pints of Lager and A Packet of Crisps in 2001 to 2011.
