Breaking News ! This is the moment CCTV caught two youths throwing large pieces of rubble at a parked car in New Moston. Police are appealing for information following the vandalism, which took place on Northerly Crescent in the evening of January 5. Carl Thornton, who owns the car that was damaged, said he had no idea it had happened until he was alerted by a neighbour. “I was in the kitchen making tea, and I got a knock on the door. It was my next door neighbour who had heard a bang and had seen these two massive bricks on my car,” he explained. “I looked on my CCTV and saw these two youths throwing them at my car earlier that evening. “It’s frustrating that you’ve got kids who shouldn’t be wandering about the streets and that can’t think of anything better to do with their time than wilfully destroying things.” Sign up to the free MEN email newsletter Get the latest updates from across Greater Manchester direct to your inbox with the free MEN newsletter You can sign up very simply by following the instructions here The car owner says he’s had to claim on his insurance as a result, with his Volvo's front window smashed and one of the front pillars bent. “I believe it was totally random. The ‘ammunition’ was there as I’ve had a new driveway put in and some of the wall was taken down. They throw the rubble, believed to be segments of discarded wall topper, at the silver Volvo before swiftly running away.

. “Three months ago or so, there were seven kids knocking about and three of them threw rocks at my window and broke it," he said. “These kids clearly have nothing better to do than causing havoc that costs people money and damages things that people have worked hard for. “They don’t know whether I’ve got work or whether I’m really struggling. I could have been furloughed or out of work and unable to get it fixed but they just don’t care.” Both the car owner and the police are now calling for anyone who knows the people involved in the vandalism to report it on 101.
