Breaking News ! A major road in Bury is closed due to 'an ongoing police incident', according to Transport for Greater Manchester. Walmersley Road is shut in both directions between Sefton Street and Hampton Grove. Surrounding back streets have also been taped off. There is a large police and paramedic presence in the area. Traffic is being advised to divert via Halvard Road and Lowes Road, as queues build in the area. The road has been closed since around 3.20pm. North West Ambulance Service has said paramedics are responding to 'concerns for the welfare of a woman'. Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for more information. Members of the public and motorists have been advised to avoid the area while the police incident is ongoing.
