Breaking News ! Former Rochdale FC player Joe Thompson has announced that he and his wife have lost have lost their baby. In a Tweet shared this morning, Joe said their son's heart had stopped beating before he was born. Their baby, named Dre Phoenix, died on Wednesday night. The former Rochdale FC player said: " #RipDrePhoenix We lost our baby boy on Wednesday night. "His heart stopped beating the day before we brought him into the world. "A scar over our hearts that will never heal. We will one day find peace in our pain and the strength to rise again. "But now we must grieve." Joe, a former Manchester United youth player, beat nodular sclerosis Hodgkin lymphoma in 2014 after six months of chemotherapy. But in March 2017 he confirmed that the cancer had returned after a tumour was found on his chest. He stopped playing while he underwent more treatment and was told he was in complete remission again after fighting back again with the support of his wife Chantelle, their daughter Thailula-Lily, former Rochdale manager Keith Hill and his team-mates.
