Breaking News ! Small businesses have criticised the government's extension of Leicester's coronavirus lockdown - claiming the measures "won't make a difference" there. The Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the national lockdown easing would not take place in Leicester - meaning pubs, hairdressers and restaurants will not be able to open alongside other areas of England on July 4. Furthermore, non-essential shops in the East Midlands city have been shut from today and most schools will close their doors on Thursday and mobile testing units are in place after a spike in coronavirus cases. Robin Dignall, the owner of city centre Hair@1RD hairdressers , told the Press Association, he "needs to get the customers back in". He said: "We were all geared up ready to open on July 4 but, from reading the government guidelines, they clearly haven't consulted anybody in our profession. Rakesh Parmar, who owns Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe, said he will be impacted "financially very, very badly".
