MetiNews.Com - Aston Villa are due to take on Manchester City at the Etihad in a rearranged Premier League game on January 20

Breaking News ! Aston Villa have had a second consecutive Premier League game called off due to an outbreak of coronavirus in their squad. The need for so many first-team players to self-isolate after positive tests saw the Midlands club put out an Under-23s side for their FA Cup third-round tie against Liverpool on January 8, and their Premier League game with Tottenham on Wednesday was also postponed. Following a request made from the club, the Premier League have agreed to rearrange their game this coming Sunday with Everton for a later date, with a statement on Villa's website explaining that they "expect that members of the first team squad and staff who are healthy and safe to return to training will do so on Sunday when the isolation protocols will have been observed".

Should the match go ahead, they will face a Dean Smith side that will have had ample time to prepare on the training ground but will not have played together since a defeat to United on New Year's Day and could have players missing due to the ongoing effects of Covid-19. Pep Guardiola will soon be able to call on all of the eight City first team players that tested positive in the two weeks after Christmas; Cole Palmer and Scott Carson are coming towards the end of their self-isolation period.
