Breaking News ! After they married, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge moved in to Apartment 1A of Kensington Palace. Prince William had already lived there growing up, with Diana keeping the apartments after her separation from Prince Charles, and the palace is said to hold precious memories for both him and Prince Harry. Just to set the record straight, these 'apartments' aren't what you or I would consider apartments - it's four floors and has 20 rooms, including five reception rooms, three main bedrooms, dressing rooms, a night and day nursery, and staff quarters. Previously home to Princess Margaret, the Cambridges are not the only royals to live at Kensington Palace - Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank live at Ivy Cottage, while two of the Queen's cousins - Prince Michael of Kent and Prince Edward, Duke of Kent - are based in Apartment 10 and Wren House respectively, along with their wives.

But don't forget - Kensington Palace used to be what Buckingham Palace is now. The stunning palace was the favourite residence of successive sovereigns until 1760, and was the birthplace and childhood home of Queen Victoria. It had been expected that Victoria would reign from either Kensington or St James's Palace, but when she became queen she almost immediately moved to Buckingham Palace and never again stayed at Kensington Palace.
