There are 70 schools in Sutton which reopened fully after nearly six months last week. So far, six Covid-related incidents in separate schools have resulted in 'bubbles' of children being sent home to self-isolate. Schools across the country are using the bubble system where pupils in each class or year-group bubble only interact with each other and their teachers to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus.

Since schools started back there have been the following cases in schools: St Elpheges Infant/Junior School asked four classes to self isolate - The Year 3 year group and one class in Year 2 - 120 pupils in total. No positive test has been confirmed yet but a large number of pupils were absent with symptoms with some staff in those year groups developing COVID-19 symptoms. John Fisher Catholic Boys School has asked all Year 8 pupils to self isolate following positive test result for a Year 8 pupil. Devonshire Primary School has a Year 2 bubble (90 pupils from all three Year 2 classes) now self isolating following the positive test result for a class teacher Cheam High - A positive test was received by school staff members before pupils rejoined the school, so no bubble is isolating. A further Year 12 pupil has reported a positive test and the school is liaising with LCRC. Sherwood Park School - a suspected case has been identified. The school has asked a small number of pupils to self isolate as a result (10 in total) A spokesperson for Sutton Council said: "All schools in Sutton are currently open to all year groups as normal.
